Phloem parenchyma:

  1. These are thin-walled cells that are filled with abundant protoplasm, located near the finest branches and termination of the sieve tubes.
  2. It is made up of elongated, tapering, and cylindrical cells possessing dense cytoplasm and nucleus.
  3. They help in starch storage and slow sideways conduction of food.
