Placenta is the organ structure which develops from the wall of the uterus acting as the connecting structure between the mother and the fetus. The connecting structure helps with controlled development of the fetus inside the uterus.
Main functions of the placenta:
  1. Placenta allows the removal of excretory material between mother and fetus to protect the fetus.
  2. It allows the transfer of nutrients and oxygen from mother to fetus which helps with the development of the fetus.
