  1. Plasmodesmata are microscopic channels present in all plant cells.
  2. They are cylindrical-shaped, membrane-lined channels, which play a vital role in intercellular communication.
  3. The plasmodesmata separate the outer cell membranes of the plant cells, therefore it is also be termed the ‘bridges’ between two plant cells.
