Open in App
Solution

Dear Student,

Pollination is a process in which Pollen grains are transferred from the Anther of a flower to the Stigma ( female reproductive part of a flower ) and allowed to fertilize.

The difference between CROSS POLLINATION and SELF POLLINATION is that -

In Self pollination , the pollen from anther is transferred to the stigma of the same flower or different flower of the same plant. It is seen in Orchids , Sunflower. It results in Uniform progeny.

In Cross pollination , the pollen from anther is transferred to the stigma of a flower of a plant of different species.
It is seen in Apple , Grapes. It results in more variety of species.

Regards.
