  • When the characteristics which are inherited to the offspring are controlled by two or more than two genes is called polygenic inheritance.
  • Examples of polygenic characters are height, skin colour, eye colour and weight.
  • The amount or quantity of such genes are more but their effect is small.
  • Therefore, it is also called quantitative inheritance.
