Pulmonary circulation:-
Definition:- It is defined as extending from the pulmonic valve to the left atrium and consists of the pulmonary outflow tract,
the right and left main pulmonary arteries and their branches , the intrapulmonary arteries,
capillaries, venules and large pulmonary veins.
Pathways- From the right atrium, the deoxygenated blood is pumped through the tricuspid value into the right ventricle.
↓
This blood pumped from right ventricles through the pulmonary valve and into the pulmonary trunk of the pulmonary artery and travels through the lungs.
↓
When CO2 is released and O2 is picked up during respiration, arteries are further divided into very fine capillaries which are extremely thin-walled.
↓
Then the pulmonary vein return oxygenated blood to the left atrium of the heart and from left atrium to left ventricle.
↓
From the ventricle oxygenated blood is circulated throughout the blood and body.
