Question

What is Rault's law? Write any four differences between Ideal and non-ideal solutions.

Open in App
Solution

The vapor pressure of solution containing non-volatile solute is directly proportional to themole fraction of the solvent.
Vapor pressure of solution = apor pressure of mole fraction of solvent.
P=PAXA
PA=k.XA ----------(i)
K=constant
for pure solvent XA=1
instead of PA put PoA
Where PoA = Vapour pressure of pure solvent
PoA = K.1 Vapour pressure of pure solvent
PoA = K ---------- (ii)
PA=P0A.XA
V.P. of solution = V.P. of pure solvent x more fraction of solvent
Difference between Ideal and Non - ideal solution
Ideal SolutionNon-ideal Solution
An ideal solution which obeys Rault's lawSolution which do not obey Rault's law
PA=P0A.XA
PB=P0B.XA
PAP0A.XA
PBP0B.XA
