A real number is a value of a continuous quantity that can represent a distance along a line. The real numbers are all those numbers which are not imaginary. It includes all the rational numbers (such as all whole numbers, fraction, positive or negative such as −5, 4, 4/3) and all the irrational numbers (such as √2, decimals).
