Solution: Initially, the entire span of the Medieval period of Europe was termed as the Dark Age.

Following the division of Medieval Europe into beginning, middle and end; the beginning stage was called the Dark Age of Europe.

The decline of the Western Roman Empire was the beginning of the Dark Age. A thousand-year of cultural barrenness appeared in Europe after rich cultural contributions by Greeks and Romans. The period also witnessed the rise of barbaric races and feudalism.
