Reflex action and its significance:

  1. Automatic response to the action of a stimulus is called reflex action.
  2. All these responses do not involve the action of the brain.
  3. Example: Blinking of eye.
  4. Reflex actions are controlled by the reflex centres present in the medulla and spinal cord.
  5. It helps in responding to any sudden stimulus which may harm the individual and thus takes care of the survival.
