Dear Student
Rocks are made up of minerals and based upon the classification of these minerals, rocks can be classified into three major types, igneous, metamorphic and sedimentary.
Soil is formed from the decomposition of fine rock particles, along with air, water, and dead plant and animal matter. Therefore, rock soil can be classified as the one made from the deposits of rock, and this process is known as weathering.
If the soil is made from lava rocks, then it is black in colour.
If it is made from large rocks of red sandstone, then it will be red in colour.
So, the colour, texture and mineral composition of soil is largely affected by the characteristics of its parent material (from which it is formed).
