Open in App
Solution

Dear Student

Saliva is the watery fluid secreted in the mouth by the action of salivary glands.
Saliva contains an enzyme salivary amylase which digests 30% of the carbohydrates intake partially in the mouth which further gets digested in later parts of the digestive system. It also masticates the food. That is why it is said to chew the food well.
