Question

What is shape of universe?

Open in App
Solution

No one actually knows, but we have many theories.
Most acceptable theroy is from Albert einstein.
He suggested that univerese in a 3 Dimensional perspective , is spherical in shape.
This is because, sphere is a very stable shape. All planets, stars , galaxies etc tend to use a spherical shape. This is because sphere has slowest surface area and largest volume, making it highly stable.
So, First theory states that universe is spherical.

Another theory, with relativity concepts of Einstein says that, universe is constantly changing and hence has different shapes. Scientists have calculated a parameter called critical density of universe, which determines shape of universe. This theory states that ,Universe is spherical, straight palne or saddle shaped( like a curve), based on different conditions. The actual theory is very complicated, so I will stop this discussion here.

Another theory states that uinverse is not three dimensional, but is multidimensional, and we donot have a name for that shape yet. This is because, we humans can only see 3 dimensions.
