Snell's law of refraction states that, for a given pair of media and for the light of a given color, the ratio of the sine of the angle of incidence to the sine of the angle of refraction is a constant, which is known as the refractive index of the second medium with respect to the first medium.
sin i/sin r = constant
Applications: A refractometer uses snell's law to determine the refractive indices of certain liquids. Used in the candy-making industry.
