  2. They may be Chlorides, Sulphates, and bicarbonates.
  3. The presence of such ions in water makes it difficult to dissolve the detergents, soaps, etc.
  4. Water softening is the process of removal of Calcium and Magnesium ions from the hard water.
  5. The water softening can be done with the help of the addition of insoluble precipitates added to the chemicals or by exchanging the ions.
  6. The added chemicals can be Ammonia, Calcium hydroxide, Sodium carbonate, etc can use for water softening.
  7. The sedimentation and filtration process can be used to make the precipitates that can be easily extracted.
