SOIL PROFILE

Soil profile is the vertical section of the soil. The vertical layers are:

  1. O- horizon- It is dark color soil made up of dead leaves and plant parts generally found in the forest area.
  2. A-horizon- It is brown color soil and also called alluvial soil. It is the topmost horizon of cultivated soil.
  3. B- horizon- It is yellow color soil where accumulation of minerals happens.
  4. C- horizon- It is also called parent material. It is an unweathered part of the soil profile. It contains rotten rocks.
