Solution
Solubility:
The ability of the solute to dissolve in a given solvent at a given temperature.
It is usually expressed as a percentage.
It is the amount of solute which is dissolved in 100 grams of solvent at a given temperature.
Factors affecting the solubility of a solid in a liquid are as follows:
Effect of temperature: TheSolubility of a solid in liquid increases on increasing the temperature and decreases on decreasing the temperature. A saturated solution will become unsaturated on heating.
Effect of pressure: Solid solubility hardly gets affected by changes in pressure. This is due to the fact that solids and liquids are highly incompressible and practically do not get affected by changes in pressure.
