Soot:
It is a deep-black powdery or flaky substance consisting largely of amorphous(powdery) carbon.
It is chiefly composed of carbon, produced by incomplete combustion(unburnt) of coal, oil, wood, or other fuels due to insufficient air supply.
This unburnt carbon remains obtained as small black particles known as soot.
