Question

What is speciation and natural selection?

Open in App
Solution

According to Darwin’s Theory of Evolution:

Speciation:

  1. The mechanism under which a new species develops from evolution is known as speciation.
  2. A species is a group of organisms that can breed and produce fertile progeny while remaining reproductively isolated from other organisms.
  3. Speciation can be aided by evolution, which would be a lengthy process that results in the accumulation of multiple tiny genetic changes known as mutations in a species.

Natural selection:

  1. The adaptation and alteration of communities of living creatures are known as natural selection.
  2. Individual creatures are naturally varied, meaning they differ in some ways.
  3. As a result of this diversity, some people have characteristics that are more suited to their circumstances than others.
  4. Variation in natural selection can result in speciation.
