Speed is the Magnitude of Velocity
Average Speed of an object in an interval of time is the distance travelled by the object divided by the duration of the interval.
The Speed you are talking about is the Instantaneous Speed which is not as Same as Average Speed.
Instantaneous Speed is the limit of the average speed as the duration of the time interval approaches zero.
We can Say Average Speed is the Average of All the Instantaneous Speed in a given time interval.
Suppose you have to travel from Point A to Point B.
Let Distance between A to B be 100km, assuming that Path from A to B not to be a Straight Line.
Lets Assume the Average Speed of Journey be 50km/h, ie. Journey is Completed in 2 Hour.
But that doesn't mean that the throughout Speed of Entire Journey is 50km/h.
Speed on the Journey will vary, ie. you are not necessarily travelling in 50km/h, but it can be 40km/h or 60km/h for One Instance, for Example.
We can assume Instantaneous Speed at Point C (between A and B) at Time 1 Hr after Journey Started (Total Time of Journey = 2Hr) to be 70km/h.
