Stomata are the small pores present on the epidermis of plant.
Stomata are found in plant leaves and also in some stems. Specialised cells known as guard cells surround stomata and function to open and close stomatal pores. [2 Marks]
Functions:
Exchange of gases with atmosphere. For example, stomata is involved in the entry of carbon dioxide to carry out photosynthesis and of oxygen for the process of respiration.
Transpiration, i.e., loss of water in the form of water vapour.
