  • Temperature and pressure have a great influence on the volumes of the gases.
  • It is necessary to choose a suitable value for each as the standards.
  • The conditions for standard temperature and pressure are given below:

Standard temperature = 00C =273 K (Where C Celsius and K Kelvin scales).

Standard pressure = 760 mm of Hg(Mercury)= 1atm (1 atmospheric pressure).

  • STP means Standard Temperature and Pressure.
  • 00C and 1 atm are the values of temperature and pressure which are considered Standard values.
