Syngamy:

  1. Syngamy is also referred to as fertilization.
  2. In this, the union or fusion of two gametes takes place to form a zygote.
  3. In plants, the pollen tube which arises from the stigma (after the arrival of pollen) carries male gametes, one of them fuses with the egg resulting in the formation of a zygote.
