Instead of producing petroleum from the natural (fossil) reserves petroleum produced synthetically (laboratory manufactured). This is called synthetic petroleum.
Synthetic petroleum is prepared using Fischer-Tropsch process. A catalyzed reaction in which synthesis gas (syn gas), mixture of carbon monoxide and hydrogen are converted liquid hydrocarbons of different forms. Synthetic petroleum is produced specifically from coal, natural gas or biomass.
This synthetic petroleum is used as lubrication oil or synthetic fuel.
