Question

What is Tension?

Open in App
Solution

Definition:

  1. Tension is characterized as a pair of action-reaction loads exerted at either end of the specified components. Tension seems to be a force that runs down the lengths of a medium (channel), particularly one that is conveyed by such a flexible medium including a rope as well as a cable.
  2. Throughout classical mechanics, the force is conveyed from one side to another via a massless rope. These mass-less cables are subjected to two equal tension pressures, although in opposing directions.

Example:

  1. String, force is being used in string musical instruments. String tension seems to be a constant force that acts on such instruments.

Therefore, tension force seems to be the force experienced by such a block as it passes through a string.
