What is the additive identity for integers?

Open in App
Solution

The additive identity for integers is 0 The term additive identity is defined for any element that retains the same integer to which it is added even after a change takes place.

Its identity does not change and mathematically the value remains the same. Also, we know that 0is the only integer that when added to an integer does not alter its value.

Let's understand this by taking an example -5 When -5is added to0, we get back the same integer i,e -5+0=-5

Hence, 0is the additive identity for integers.
