Solution

The aims of sustainable development are

1. The use of natural resources should not result in excessive environmental degradation. If the environment gets degraded irreversibly, then development will stop.
2. We should not exhaust natural resources during our own generation. Instead, sufficient natural resources should be left for future generations such that the process of development can be sustained.
