Question

What is the angle of incidence of a ray if the reflected ray is at an angle of 90 degree to the incident ray?

Open in App
Solution

We know that the angle of incidence is equal to the angle of reflection.
∠i = angle of incident.
∠r = angle of reflection.

Given: ∠i + ∠r = 90°
Since ∠i = ∠r hence;
∠i + ∠i = 90°
Or, 2∠i = 90°
Or, ∠ i= 45°.

Thus, the angle of incidence is 45°.
