Area of the triangle =12[x1(y2y3)+x2(y3y1)+x3(y1y2)]

=12[a(bcc)+a(cbc)a(b+cb+c)]

=12[a(b2c)+a(b)a(2c)]=2ac

The area of a triangle can never be a negative quantity, therefore a modulus of the value is taken whenever the calculated value is negative. Hence the area is 2ac.
