An isosceles right triangle has two congruent sides which are its two perpendicular legs (the two shorter sides) that form the right angle of the triangle. The given triangle can be shown as below:

For a right angled triangle,
Area = 12×base×height

Given,
Base of the triangle = 16 cm and height of the triangle = 16 cm
So, area of the triangle
= 12 x base x height
= 12 x 16 x 16
= 128 cm2
