Given: Area of each grid/square =1 sq mm

Consider more than half (space occupied) as 1 sq mm, less than half as 0 sq mm, and half as 12 sq mm,

Number of complete squares occupied (green colour) =17
Number of more than half-square occupied (yellow colour) =8
Number of exactly half-square occupied (blue colour) =3
Number of less than half-square occupied (red colour) =11

So, area of the figure above
=17×1+8×1+3×12+11×0=17+8+1.5+0=26.5 sq mm
