Given, mass of man, m=100 kg
Specific gravity of ice,

picepwater=0.9

pice=0.9×1000=900 kg/m3

Thickness of ice block =0.5
Let the area of the ice block be A.
So, volume of the ice block,

V=A×0.5

Equating upthrust with the total weight to be supported,

A×0.5×1000 g=100 g+A×0.5×900 g

500A=100+450A

A=2 m2
