Solution

Atomicity: The number of atoms present in a molecule is the atomicity of that molecule. Depending upon the number of atoms in one molecule of an element, they are classified as under- (i) monoatomic (ii) diatomic (iii) triatomic, and (iv) polyatomic molecule.

a) Atomicity of Oxygen (O2) is 2 because it contains 2 atoms of oxygen. It is a diatomic molecule

b) Atomicity of Ozone (O3 ) is 3 because it contains 3 atoms of oxygen. It is a triatomic molecule

c) Atomicity of neon (Ne) is 1, because it contains only 1 atom. It is a monoatomic molecule

d) Atomicity of sulphur (S) is 8 and 6 because it is found as S8 and S6. It is a polyatomic molecule

e) Atomicity of phosphorous (P4) is 4 because it contains 4 atoms of phosphorous. It is a polyatomic molecule

f) Atomicity of sodium (Na) is 1. It is a monoatomic molecule
