The basic difference between starch and cellulose is due to the difference in rthe nature of glucose molecules
Starch consists of amylose and amylopectin, both made up of \alpha -D(+)- glucose units. Amylose consists of linear chains of glucose linked in C1C6 manner. Amylopectin consists of these linear chains further linked in C1C6
In cellulose, only \beta - D(+)- glucose molecules are linked to each other in C1C4 manner-
