Question

What is the Brewster angle for air to glass transition? (Refractive index of glass = 1.5.)

Open in App
Solution

The refractive index of the glass is given as μ=1.5.

The relation between Brewster’s angle and refractive index is,

tanθ= n 2 n 1 =μ

Where, θ is the Brewster angle, n 1 is the refractive index of the incident medium and n 2 is the refractive index of the other medium.

The Brewster’s angle is,

θ= tan 1 μ = tan 1 ( 1.5 ) =56.13°

Thus, the Brewster angle for air to glass transition is 56.13°.
