  1. Mushroom belongs to the family of fungi.
  2. It grows on the dead and decayed matter from where it derives its nutrition.
  3. It has got an umbrella-like structure on its head called basidiocarp.

Basidiocarp:

  1. Basidiocarp is the fruiting body in fungus.
  2. The mycelium forms a rhizomorph which is a highly twisted cord-like structure.
  3. At the time of reproduction, Rhizomorph develops spherical structures around it.
  4. This stage of basidiocarp is known as the button stage in mushrooms.
  5. During the button stage, the secondary basidiocarp develops to form the mature basidiocarp.
