Open in App
Solution

CAP site:

  1. In the lac operon, CAP stands for catabolite activator protein site.
  2. It is located before the location of the promoter with the DNA.
  3. It is activated when glucose levels are low and initiates the transcription.
  4. When glucose levels are low, an enzyme called adenylyl cyclase is active which synthesizes a molecule called cAMP which is cyclic AMP.
  5. cAMP binds at the CAP site and stops glucose synthesis.
  6. CAP site remains vacant when there is enough amount of glucose.
