Question

What is the centrifugal force?

Open in App
Solution

The centrifugal force is an inertial or pseudo force directed away from the axis of rotation that appears to act on all objects when viewed in a rotating frame of reference. It is not a real force in Newtonian mechanics. The centrifugal force is apparent in a rotating reference frame; it does not exist when a system is described relative to an inertial frame of reference.
