What is the clitoris?

Solution

Clitoris:

  1. It is a small finger-like projection arising from the genital tubercle of the fetus.
  2. The clitoris body is hung from the pubic bone by a short ligament and emerges at the apex of the vulva to produce a little external glans.
  3. The clitoral hood is a sheath of skin that lies above the glans.
  4. The glans contains a large number of sensitive nerve endings, which is why the clitoris is very important in tactile sexual stimulation.
  5. It is found at the upper junction of the two labia minora over the urethral opening.
