Chromoplasts:

  1. Chromoplasts are colored plastids that contain carotenoid pigment and impart color to certain parts of plants such as flower petals, fruits, some roots, etc.
  2. Chromoplasts are composed of carotenoids. Carotenoids are of two types namely carotene and xanthophyll. Carotene contains carbon and hydrogen whereas xanthophyll contains oxygen.
