Solution

Instructions: Write what all gases are present in the atmosphere with their percentage composition. Write about the three important gases ie, oxygen, nitrogen and carbon dioxide.

Solution: Composition of Air is as follows:
  • Nitrogen: 78%
  • Oxygen: 21%
  • Argon: 0.93 %
  • Carbon dioxide: 0.03%
  • Other gases which include Helium, Hydrogen, Ozone consist of 0.04%
  • Dust particles
Three important gases are nitrogen, oxygen and carbon dioxide.
Nitrogen is the most plentiful gas in the air. It is required by plants for their survival. However, plants can not take nitrogen directly from air. So some bacteria in soil make it available for plants by some mechanism.

Oxygen is the second most plentiful gas in the air. Humans and animals inhale oxygen when they breathe. And it is produced by green plants during photosynthesis.

Carbon dioxide is required by plants during photosynthesis. Humans and animals exhale CO2 during breathing.
