Question

What is the curvature of a mirror? What is its value for a plane mirror?

Open in App
Solution

Explanation: The Center of curvature is defined as the central part or the center point of a sphere of which the spherical or curved mirror is a part.

In the following diagram, the reflection by a plane mirror has been shown.

  1. Considering the ‘NO' as radius and the point ‘N’ as the center of curvature, a plane mirror can not be curved.
  2. Let’s say the plane mirror makes a curve at an infinite distance, then the curvature value would be infinite.
