what is the difference between a hand pump and a lift pump?

Open in App
Solution

Dear Student,

Hand pumps are manually operated pumps. They use human power and mechanical advantage to move fluids or air from one place to another.

Lift pump is a pump that raises a fluid to a higher level. It usually consists of a piston and vertical cylinder with flap or ball valves in both piston and cylinder base. It is a pump in which a liquid is lifted rather than forced up from below.
