Question

What is the difference between being resistance to biotic and abiotic things and having wider adaptability for crops??

Open in App
Solution

Adaptability is the crop's ability to withstand the agricultural changes or the changes in the environment. Such crops are considered to be strong enough to be prone to changes. Wider adaptability is a term that is used to describe the crop's ability to tolerate changes. If a crop has wider adaptability then it can handle the changes without getting damaged however if the wider adaptability is lacking then the crop will be affected by changed and as result will be damaged.

Biotic resistance may be defined as the resistance of plants against biotic factors such as microbes (bacteria, viruses, fungi, mycoplasm), insects, rodents and nematodes to increase the yield of the crop.

Abiotic resistance may be defined as the resistance of plants against abiotic factors such as flood, drought, water logging, frost, lodging to increase the yield of the crop.
