Polar covalent compound ​ Non polar covalent compound​
The covalent compounds are said to be polar when the shared pair of electrons are not at equal distance between the two atoms. ​

Covalent compounds are said to be nonpolar when shared pair of electrons are equally distributed between the two atoms. ​

Partial positive and negative charge is developed.​

No charge separation takes place.​

Example: hydrogen chloride (HCl)​ Example: hydrogen H2, chlorine Cl2 etc.​
