Question

What is the difference between c2 cycle and photorespiration?

Open in App
Solution

Dear student,

Photorespiration is also known as oxidative photosynthetic C2 cycle. There is no difference between Photorespiration and C2 Cycle. Photorespiration is a light-dependent process and also it is a salvage pathway for 2-phosphoglycolate (2-PG), which is the product of the oxygenase activity of RubisCO or ribulose 1,5-bisphosphate carboxylase/oxygenase, to the C3 cycle or Calvin cycle intermediate phosphoglycerate.

Regards.
