Question

What is the difference between canals and river lift system

Open in App
Solution

  • Canal is a type of irrigation system in which the main source of water, that is a river is connected to far away fields by means of canals and distributaries.

  • River lift system is a type of irrigation in which water is drawn directly from the rivers (instead of canals). It is possible for areas near to rivers only. River lift system is employed in areas where canals do not have sufficient water flow.
