The ion which contains the positive charge on Carbon atom is called Carbocation.The ion which contains the negative charge on the Carbon atom is called Carbanion.
The hybridization of carbocation is sp2.The hybridization of carbanion is sp3.
The geometry of Carbon in carbocation is trigonal planar.The geometry of Carbon in carbanion is pyramidal.
They are paramagnetic in natureThey are diamagnetic in nature.
In any chemical reaction, they act as electrophiles.In any chemical reaction, they act as nucleophile.
Example: Methanium CH5+, Ethanium C2H7+, etc.Example: Aryl, Vinyl, Acetylide, etc.
