Question

What is the difference between Decentralisation and Delegation?

Open in App
Solution

Both refer to dispersal of authority. But they are not one and the same thing and distinction between them must be clearly understood. Delegation refers to the entrustment of authority by one individual to another while decentralisation refers to systematic and consistent delegation of authority at all levels and in all functions of the organization. It is the sum-total or pattern of delegation.
