Question

What is the difference between Electricity, Electric current and Electrical energy?

Open in App
Solution

Hi,

You can understand the difference by analysing the definition of each.

Electric current is the flow of charge in a direction through an electric wire. In wires, charge is often carried by electrons. It is carried by ions in electrolyte.

Electricity is the physical phenomena arising from the behaviour of electrons and protons. Electricity gives a wide variety of well-known effects, such as lightning, static electricity, electromagnetic induction and electric current.

Electric energy is the measure of energy absorbed or delivered by an electric circuit. Electric energy may have other forms such as heat, light etc.

Hope you understood the difference.
